Nov 19th pick up
With the holiday's coming up, we have to work around the produce companies schedule. So this month we will be having only one pick up date. That day will be Nov 19th at 12:00 noon. Remember to check the About us page for all of the details on pick up instructions.
We will be getting as many items as possible that will help with your Thanksgiving menu! Remember that your money is due by Thurs the 17th by 10 pm. Please spread the word! We don't have as big of a group this time, so that limits the amount we will be able to get! You still have a few days to recruit some more individuals!!

October 29 pick up
Well last week was a HUGE success! We got way more produce than planned (which is a huge plus!) The ingredient of the week was tomatillos. Some of you realized that you have a new favorite, others added it to their dislike list. If you did not see the featured recipe... Its in the previous post.
Also a quick tip about produce... When we get things like lettuce, herbs or even celery... it can get wilty very quickly. Especially in the warmer months. Not to worry, don't toss it out. All you have to do to crisp it up, is to put it in a large bowl of ice water for 20-30 minutes. Voila! That kind of produce will wilt quickly because they are so full of water. When taken from the ground and placed in the heat, it depletes the water very quickly. So just give it a good soak and it's good as new. If you are going to keep it in the refrigerator a few days, put it in a bowl with a wet paper towel over it. The longer you let it sit in there... the more often you'll need to moisten the paper towel. Don't get it too wet or then you'll have to deal with mold if you are leaving it in there for a long period of time. (like a week)
By adding the moist paper towel to it, it will usually double the time that it has before it goes bad. Pretty cool huh?!
Ok on to the next pick up date!!!
The next pick up date will be October 29th and 12:00 (noon) it will only go until 12:30. At 12:40 I will be loading your baskets into my car and taking them to some families in the community in need. So make sure to get here on time or to have a friend pick them up!!!
The Due date has been changed from Tuesdays to Thursdays. This will give you a little more time to manage it around pay checks. There will not be any exceptions. There is a lot of prep work that goes into getting things in order for the big day.
Also, please make sure that you have filled out and emailed me the survey, (the survey tab is above) and also, PLEASE read the "about us" tab and make sure that you understand it. That page will give all of the details, rules etc about our co-op. I will hold everyone responsible for what's written. So please read it. Don't worry, it's basic stuff... I just need to make sure that I'm not turning my life upside down to accommodate everyone.
We had a great turn out last week and hope for an even better one for the 29th! Please come early if you can, to help get the baskets ready. I'll be cutting it close to my due date, so I'll need lots of help :) And a HUGE thanks to all of those that helped last week. I could not have done it without you!
Also, any extras that we have (a couple left over apples, or odd number of things etc) will be going to a family in the community in need.
If you are interested in an organic basket, please let me know. It will be $25 per share.
Thanks everyone! I'll try to remember to take picts this next time. I totally forgot last time!

The beginning...
We are really excited about starting our first produce co-op. We have found a dealer that will allow us to order our produce in bulk at wholesale prices. Please read the "About us" page for all information and details.
Our first pick up date will be Saturday October 15th from 12:00- 12:30 pm. We will try to keep pick up days to a consistent day... Money will be due no later than Tuesday the 11th at 10 pm. For now, we will have pick up days twice a month.
(Please be patient with us as we are having a baby at the end of the month and also trying to work out a few bugs that may come up with starting a co-op. )
If you are willing to volunteer, please come an hour early to help separate the produce into baskets.
If you would like to participate, please leave a comment telling us how many shares you would like, and then bring cash or check to our house by Tues. You will also need to bring 2 laundry baskets (4 if you are doing a double share) with you when you drop off your money. They will need to have your name on them. I will also email you a survey when you leave a comment, that you can fill out and return if you would like to share your favorites with us.
